Chemical Resistance

Both PTFE and Silicone rubber are resistant to acids and most alkalis. (Silicone less so). Solvents and fuel oils can cause problems for silicone rubber. Very hot water/steam or hot oils can produce failure by breaking down the bond between the polymer and the substrate. (Delamination).
