Running In
Small belts such as those used on sealing and packing machines do not usually require running-in. After ensuring that the conveyor track is true and unencumbered, larger belts should be run slowly at room temperature to check if any distinct tracking problem exists. If not, or after correction, speed and heating should be increased gradually (over a period of at least one hour) up to the maximum operating temperature, and run for a further 30-60 minutes. The belt should be watched carefully during running-in and tendency to track off corrected immediately. Resist the temptation to apply more tension in order to achieve straight running unless the belt is clearly slack, and is not making proper contact with the head / tail / drive pulleys.
