Temperature Range
PTFE-glass belts can operate at -50°C to +260°C
with intermittent use to 300°C, but PTFE softens
and the wear increased considerably over 260°C.
Above 300°C fumes are given off and these should
not be inhaled.
PTFE-Kevlar® and Nomex® belts should be used at a maximum of 200°C.
Silicone-glass belts: -50°C to +260°C.
Silicone can stand much higher temperatures but life will be considerably reduced. (e.g. A working life of 3 months at 260°C may be reduced to one week at 300°C, and 6 hours at 370°C).
As a general rule, a burnt belt indicates excessive temperature, and not a quality problem, whatever the temperature gauge may show.
